BaseVenture wins the 2016 “Product Leadership” Award from Frost & Sullivan!

We are proud to announce that BaseVenture won the 2016 “Product Leadership” Award from Frost & Sullivan, a global research and consulting firm.

BaseVenture was given this award in recognition of its innovation in the Alternative Investment Digital Platform Solution industry in North America.

BaseVenture’s flagship product FundManager.io is a Software-as-a-Service platform that simplifies how private funds are administered and managed, such as hedge funds, private equity funds, and real estate funds. FundManager.io streamlines fund management by connecting fund administrators, fund managers, and investors.

For Fund Administrators, using FundManager.io helps them improve the quality of service to their clients and investors, increases their efficiency and margins, and helps them better tackle compliance and regulatory challenges.

Frost & Sullivan has a global team of analysts and consultants continuously researching a wide range of markets across multiple sectors and geographies. As part of this ongoing research, Frost & Sullivan identifies companies that maintain consistently high standards for product or service quality and innovation.

This research involves extensive primary and secondary research across the entire value chain of specific products. Against the backdrop of this research, Frost & Sullivan singled out FundManager.io as a leading force in the industry.

John Pizzi, BaseVenture’s CEO, said, “We are honored to receive this prestigious award from Frost & Sullivan. Our team at BaseVenture has worked hard to create a software platform that brings much needed innovation to private funds, which is the fastest growing category of investments. While we have received other awards this year that recognized us as a company to watch, this award has special significance to us because it shows that our product has quickly become the leader in this space.”

“As fund administrators and managers face client churn, investors and regulators pressure funds to operate with greater transparency and efficiency,” states Frost & Sullivan Vice President, Brent Iadarola. “In this environment, FundManager.io compiles all actionable information into a single platform so funds can easily manage investor pipelines and reporting and seamlessly collaborate across areas of the organization.”

Why are Fund Administrators & Private Fund Managers being made to feel like they’re back in the mid 1990’s?

The alternative investment industry is a vibrant and growing industry.  Money invested in private funds will grow from $10 trillion to $18 trillion by 2020.  Private funds or alternatives are the fastest growing category of investments.

Given that fact, one would think that the software offered to Fund Administrators and Private Fund Managers to help them administer & manage funds would be compelling, useful — or at the very least modern looking!

Unfortunately for Fund Administrators and Private Fund Managers, this has been pretty far from the truth so far.  There are plenty of software solutions being used today to manage and administer private funds, and based solely on the measure of user experience, these prominent offerings can make you feel like you’re a time traveler back to the mid 1990s, during a time when this infamous moment in software history happened…

Funny as it might seem, however, the sad thing is that it’s true.

Here are some examples of mainstream software products that are used by Fund Administrators and Private Fund Managers to administer and manage their private funds.  We have masked any names of these products to protect the guilty, but notice how outdated these user interfaces look:

Example 1:

Example 2:

Example 3:

Don’t these images bring you back to the good ol’ days of the mid-90s when the Macarena was all the rage, Toy Story was the top grossing movie in theaters, and the Motorola StarTAC was the top selling cell phone?!…

Now compare the design of those experiences with the user experience of our FundManager.io platform below.  The views in FundManager.io are simple and modern.  There is a logical intuition to the experience, with visual cues to guide the user.  It is easy to move from a macro view to a micro view of the information being presented.

Our team here at BaseVenture is dedicated to helping fund administrators, and private fund managers spend less time on operations and more time generating growth.

One of the ways that we do this is by providing our clients with a modern and easy to use software solution that looks like something that was created this year, as opposed to the other offerings out there that look like they are over twenty years old!

Taking the hassle out of getting Capital Statements to investors

One of the key areas in which we help our fund administrator & fund manager clients is enabling an easier & simpler way to distribute key documents like Capital Statements to their investors.

One of the most important documents that a fund administrator or private fund manager produces are Capital Statements, which summarize all the changes in an owners’ equity that occurred during a specific time period.

Depending on the type of private fund, these Capital Statements can be needed as frequently as monthly, and they are always a hassle to get to investors.  In today’s alternative investment industry, the fund administrator or private fund manager typically creates a pdf of the Capital Statement by investor, and then manually prepares and sends individual emails with these Capital Statements to each investor.

We have just kicked off our latest marketing campaign that is focused on how much easier it is to handle Capital Statement distribution via BaseVenture’s “FundManager.io” platform.

At its simplest, we eliminate the need for the fund administrator or private fund manager to have to deal with individual emails of pdfs.  Instead, we provide them with a simple and powerful tool that gives investors a single location where they can securely view, download, and print their current as well as past Capital Statements.

BaseVenture Wins Red Herring Top 100 Award!

We are very excited and honored to announce that BaseVenture is the winner of the Red Herring Top 100 North America award! This is a big accomplishment for us, and we are very proud of this recognition.

Past winners of this award have included what were then little known companies like Facebook, Google, and eBay, to name a few.  In fact, we were encouraged to learn during the awards ceremony that around 70% of all companies that went public in the last 5 years were winners of this very same award!

Kim and I could not be more proud of our team of FinTech and Alternative Investment industry veterans. Within just a year, BaseVenture is emerging as the leader in private fund management and administration technology.  Our platform, FundManager.io, is helping to transform the wealth services industry.

We recently presented at Finovate Spring 2016, and we are also proud to say that we are one of only two companies that were selected to present at Finovate Spring 2016 and be awarded the Red Herring Top 100 award in 2016.

“Winning the Red Herring Top 100 North America award is incredible validation of the huge impact that we are making on the alternative investment industry. We are honored and grateful to be recognized for the success of our award winning ‘FundManager.io’ platform. FundManager.io is simplifying and automating the management and administration of private funds. And the result is that our clients spend less time on operational and compliance issues and more time generating growth.”

Here is what Alex Vieux, publisher & CEO of Red Herring said:

“In 2016, selecting the top achievers was extremely difficult,” said Alex Vieux, publisher and CEO of Red Herring. “The variety, depth, disruption and traction we saw from the early stage companies to those with significant scale made it one of the toughest vintages to judge. The North America winners are representative of the amazing ecosystem that never ceases to astound, with new and experienced entrepreneurs continuing to push the barriers of innovation. As one of the winners, BaseVenture should be proud of its accomplishment under such strong competition.”

If you have a moment, please read the full press release. A big thank you to Alex Vieux and his team at Red Herring for this recognition. Thank you to our clients and our investors for all your valuable product input and support.
